The Odyssey chapter offers this special support every time they meet, which is on the first and third Monday of every month. However, there is a special emphasis on friends and family at the third Monday meetings.
This is a service that is hard to find, since most support groups only address concerns of the person with the mood disorder. Family and friends have to dig for their own information and support.
The DBSA Odyssey chapter is a nonprofit organization that offers online support to anyone, and free educational literature and trained facilitators at every meeting. There are no dues or fees, but it is self-supporting through donations, which they say are tax-deductible.
Odyssey meets at St. Patrick’s Family Center at 901 Columbus Ave. in Grand Haven, in rooms 5 and 6, from 7-9 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month. There is no affiliation with any religious organization.
