The money raised at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will help fight breast cancer and provide hope to those whose lives have been affected by this disease.
“This fall, we are inspired by the outpouring of support that our community has demonstrated for those who are battling breast cancer,” said Amy Markle, community representative for the American Cancer Society. “We are grateful for the tireless commitment to our mission that the community has shown as more area residents are finding their way to the American Cancer Society for support during their cancer journey.”
The Kalamazoo event was attended by 3,200 area residents, 180 breast cancer survivors and raised $134,000. In all, there were seven Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks around the state on Saturday. A total of 17 walks are taking place in Michigan this month, with more than 250 Making Strides walks held across the country.
