She is survived by her loving family: husband, James N. Smith; son, Charles N. Smith; and daughter, Linda M. (Smith) Holland; grandchildren: Jenner and Charles Smith, and Emilie and Daggert Holland.
Born on January 2, 1935, at Carthage, IL, Leslie lived most of her life in Libertyville, IL, where she and Jim raised their family. She also found time to volunteer and founded the Libertyville chapter of the Infant Welfare Society, which led the grand opening of the Marshall Field department store there. In 1998, the Smiths moved to Grand Haven, MI, to the cottage where Leslie spent much of her childhood vacation time, and in 2000 started spending winters in Scottsdale, AZ.
She will be missed by her family, and many friends in Illinois, Michigan and Arizona.
There will be a memorial service at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, AZ, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of the Valley or a charity of choice in her memory will be appreciated.
