Viola Jean Robbins

Viola Jean Robbins of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the age of 78. Jean resided at Robbinswood Assisted Living.

Jean was born to parents Asa and Joan Burch on August 13, 1939, in Mount Pleasant.

Jean married LaVerne Robbins in 1956.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Becky (Rocky) Schroeder of Grand Haven and Brenda (Kevin) Rowland of Grand Haven; son, Vernon Robbins (fiancee Rose Murphy) of West Olive; daughter-in-law, Kelly Robbins; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne Robbins; her sons, Jeffrey and Jody Robbins; her parents, Asa and Joan; and her brothers: Asa, Ron and Fred Burch.

Jean was the oldest living kidney transplant recipient (45 years) in the Grand Rapids St. Mary’s Hospital. Her brother, Asa Burch, donated a kidney in 1973.

She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing Skipbo, and hand and foot. She attended Hope Church of Grand Haven and was a member of Four Pointes.

There will be a memorial held in July.
