Betty graduated from cosmetology school in 1948, and owned and operated Betty’s Beauty Skellar for 50 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, where she had served as deacon. Betty had a great sense of humor, loved the Detroit Red Wings, and especially enjoyed her lunch and shopping dates with her close friends Corky Batts, Mary Sabo, Cathy Newell and all the ladies they could gather to join them.
She is survived by her children: Sandy Morritt (Tony), Bob (Kim) Boston and Scott (Kathy) Boston; four grandchildren: Shelley (Steve) Wilber, Lacy Boston, Geddy Boston and Samantha Pethers; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Boston (1972) and Gary Byl (2018); her parents; granddaughter, Nikki Lee Morritt; and sister, Kathryn Anderson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at The Spring Lake Chapel, 213 E. Savidge (616-842-6100), with Pastor Donna Rick officiating.
