Chip was an avid coin collector and model craftsman of both airplanes and autos. He loved long drives and delighted in discovering and exploring paths less traveled.
Chip followed his family into the auto manufacturing industry, where he worked for nearly two decades. During that time, he loved, wed and tragically lost his beloved wife, Barbara Dean, with whom he is now reunited. He was also preceded in death by his father, Francis. The legacy Chip leaves behind is one of love, compassion and grace in both giving and receiving.
He is survived by his treasured daughters, Marki Farrar and Sara Monaghan-Olmstead (Brian); sister, Shelly Welton (James); brother, Bruce Wicklander; nephew, Michael T. Smith Jr.; mother and step-father, Beverly and Paul Wicklander.
As per Chip's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial will be planned for a later date.
Those of us whom Chip left behind wish to extend our sincerest gratitude to the caregivers who worked so hard to keep him comfortable as he struggled with a long and chronic illness, and to those who helped to ease his pain in passing. Thank you. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Eaton County Humane Society, 129 N. Main St., Olivet, MI 49076, in William's memory.
