She was born March 16, 1957, in Muskegon to Albert and Evelyn (Thomann) Jasenas Sr. She graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1975. Marva married Kurt Tiles on October 22, 1977, at St. Patrick’s Church in Grand Haven.
Marva held many jobs until she found her passion for hair. Among those picking asparagus for Wayne Lundberg, working in the spring for Major’s Greenhouse and mostly helping Kurt on the family farm.
In 1993, Marva started at Ludington Beauty Academy and went on to work for Bruce Rillema at Pierrot Hair Design. She then worked for Bobbie McVicker of Shear Sensations. In 2002, Marva opened her own salon at home, Marva’s Hair Care. She only closed in April 2018 when her health forced her to. Her greatest reward of the business is the many customers who became good friends.
Her greatest joy was spending time with grandchildren, making crafts with, sleepovers, hunting and attending the many school programs. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing from a small age with her father. The family now has many treasured ceramics that she has painted over the years. Marva enjoyed being outside and would often take her children’s many dogs for walks.
Marva will be greatly missed by her husband of 41 years, Kurt; her mother, Evelyn Jasenas; her children: Kara (Dan) Kriesel, Lee (Michelle), Luke (Jackie Adams) and Jacob (Melanie Stickney); her grandchildren: Alexis, Alexzander, Sawyer, Corbin, Emelina, Raine and Nolan; her siblings: Karen (Mark) Bridgewater, Bert Jasenas, Carol (Roger) Hill and Dawn Jasenas; and her many nieces, nephews and good friends. She is also survived by Kurt’s large family that she was also very close with.
Marva was preceded in death by her father, Albert Jasenas.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 14, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Custer. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions in Marva’s name may be directed to Great Lakes Hospice or the Spectrum Health Angel Care Fund.
