In 1992, he graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. After graduation, he continued his education to earn a P.E. in Civil Engineering. He was employed by Soils & Structures for 25 years, where he was most recently laboratory manager. Keith was a member of the Eagles Club 925 for 16 years.
Keith loved his cottage in Baldwin, Michigan. Many summers were spent there with family and friends, fishing, boating, swimming, enjoying bon fires and having all-around good times. He came to be known affectionately as “Captain Pete,” due to the awesome sunset cruises. He also enjoyed many family vacations in Florida.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years, Karen (Ruster); son John and daughter Holly, both still at home; and family dog Blake; mother, Karen (Nagtzaam) Reenders; sister, Kristan (Dean) Mulder; brothers: Kevin (Jeanne) Reenders, Chad Reenders and Craig Reenders; sister-in-law, Teresa (Mark) Dreese; nephews, Derek Mulder and Mykel Reenders; nieces: Kaitlyn Mulder, Morgan and Sarah Reenders; and numerous family and friends who loved him dearly. He also holds a special place in the hearts of the members of “The Family Fun Camp.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Dean; in-laws, John and Jeanie Ruster; and grandparents: Gerald and Theresa Reenders, and Richard and Wynn Nagtzaam.
A celebration of life will be held at Porto Bello, 41 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, on Friday, January 25, from 3-7 p.m., upstairs in the Grand Ballroom.
