'Corky' Laman

Cornell “Corky” Arthur Laman passed away March 13, 2019, at the age of 91. He was born April 12, 1927, to Arend and Jenni Laman, who preceded him. He was married to Dale MacNeill Laman for 68 years.

He had five children: Teri Laman of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; Tom Laman, who preceded him; Pete (Kristy) Laman of Honor; Lisa Laman Baker of Empire; and Gina (Richard) Springer of Granville, Ohio. He had 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Corky served in the Army in 1946. He worked for Bastian Blessing, Grand Haven, for 45 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 28. He was friendly to all, loved by many; they said Corky never met a stranger.

Services will be March 16, 2019, at 9 a.m. at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Empire; following Mass there will be a celebration of his life at the Empire Village Inn. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Emergency Fund (Empire Area Community Center), P.O. Box 123, Empire, MI 49630.
