“Matt was the salt of the earth. One of the kindest countrymen I’ve ever met.”

We are sad to say that on February 17, 2019, Matt Chittenden passed away at his home. Matt was not alone; his good friend Blain and Blain’s sons were there with him.

Matt was very fortunate to have had many true and long-lasting friends. Thank you all! He loved being in the woods hunting or on a lake fishing. He always made sure there was room for family or friends to come along.

He owned Pine Haven Campground. Matt loved to gather people together. He made sure there was always food on the table and a roof over everyone’s head.

If you ever had the pleasure of spending time with Matt, he loved a good practical joke. and it was more than likely on you. Hey! You survived! LOL.

He was born June 28, 1959, to Gordon and Patricia Chittenden. He married Gail and had two daughters, Jenny and Erica; and two grandchildren, Donta and Kaylynn.

Matt was not one to show his soft side, but he loved with all his heart and soul. He said many times, “God, don’t let me end up in a nursing home. Just shoot me!”

Although he left us way too soon, we are glad he was at home.

We will gather in the spring on School Section Lake one last time to celebrate Matt’s part in our lives.

Had I known the last time I hugged you would be the last time I would ever hug you, I would have held you longer.
