She was born in Fremont, Michigan, on December 21, 1949, to Wilbur and Virginia (nee Blake) Gastfield. She married Daniel Jack Kinney II on August 24, 1973, in Spring Lake.
She graduated from Spring Lake High School and attended Hope College and Muskegon Business College. She was a homemaker and later worked at NOCH, Lakeshore Otolaryngology and the practice of Dr. Raymond Rabideau. Her Christian faith was central in her life. She attended Spring Lake Wesleyan Church before moving to Sault Ste. Marie. During her years in the Soo, Ginny was active in volunteer work at the local animal shelter. She also tutored Karin refugee children (who referred to her as “Grandma”) in spelling and other scholastic endeavors, a special joy and labor of love for her.
Preceding her in death were her father, Wilbur; her stepfather and mother, Edward and Virginia Wittevrongel of Spring Lake; in-laws, Jack and Marguerite Kinney of Muskegon; brothers-in-law, John Stabbing and Paul Sova Jr.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her husband, Jack; sons: Joshua (Megan) Kinney, Daniel III (Jessica) and Nicholas Kinney; stepdaughter, Marilisa (Albert) Sachteleben; grandchildren: Molly, Albert Jr., Jakob, Emma, McKenna and Remington; two sisters, Lelah Strabbing and Kelly Chapman; aunt Mayselle Blake of Lansing; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Interment will be at Mission Hill Cemetery in Brimley, Michigan. A private graveside service will take place. Arrangements conducted by the C.S. Mulder Funeral Home, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
