Donald (Don) Koster, 84, finished his earthly journey at home in Spring Lake on Monday, June 17, and is finally at peace and with the Lord after a long battle with multiple health issues.

He was born to George and Marian (Johnson) Koster in Spring Lake. He married Joyce Meyers in 1958, who survives him, along with their children: Brad (Mary) Koster of Rochester Hills, Lori (Mike) Rant of Nunica, and Blair (Heather) Koster of Jenison; grandchildren: Ryan and Kyle Koster, Lindsey (Eric) Suszek, Adam Rant, Rachel (Shane) Ryke, Andrea (Phil) Akins, Blythe, and Jamin Koster; great-grandchildren: Natalie and Luke Suszek, Addison Ryke, and Tristan Akins. He is also survived by his brother, George of Germany, sister-in-law, Ruth Meyers, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother-in-law, Bev and Ben Stehouwer.

Don loved being with his family and was his grandchildren's biggest cheerleader in everything they did. He was an avid hunter and he especially enjoyed spending time at the Rant family cabin in the UP. Prior to his retirement he was a construction supervisor, installing Instrument Landing Systems at airports and other government projects around the country. His humor will be missed and the memories he made will be cherished forever.

At Don's request a private family service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community in memory of Don.

Please sign the family’s online guestbook at The family is being served by The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St, Spring Lake, MI 49456.
