She attended Grand Haven High School and lived in the Tri-Cities until her retirement from Grand Haven Brass. Her early retirement years were spent on Nugent Lake near Baldwin and later in Sun City, Florida. While raising a family and in retirement, she enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening and a rousing game of cards. She was also well known as a wonderful cook and especially noted for her delicious homemade baked beans and pizza. She was a member of Jehovah Witness in Grand Haven and Sun City, Florida.
Patricia is survived by her daughters: Linda (Tom) Palarz, Sharon Kelley and Cynthia (John Drumm) Carskadon; special niece, Christine Hyde; special family friend, Lynn McMaster; step-children: Meri Jo Cheladyn, Diane (George) Hay and William (Kathy) Roon; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Carskadon; son, Robert Lee Carskadon; son-in-law, Daniel Kelley; brother, Lynn Fochtman Jr.; sister, Margaret Lueder; and former husband, Robert Carskadon.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Patricia may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or charity of choice.
