Four Hope College swimmers and one diver have received national academic honors from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

The CSCAA award recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while excelling in competition in the pool during the 2017-18 season.

Swimmers Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Sydney Asselin of Holland Christian, Chloe Palajac of Dearborn and Emma Schaefer of St. Johns were among 1,069 first-team Scholar All-Americans.

To qualify, student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and have qualified for NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Championships.

Diver Brian Simonich of Milford was one of 1,137 student-athletes to earn honorable-mention status.

To qualify for honorable-mention honors, student-athletes must achieved a GPA of 3.5 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.

Last month, both the Flying Dutch and Flying Dutchmen claimed CSCAA Scholar All-America honors for the Spring 2018 semester.

The Flying Dutch posted a 3.67 GPA — the eighth-best among NCAA Division III women's honorees.

The Flying Dutchmen finished with a 3.51 GPA — the ninth-highest among Division III men's recipients.
