Chase Wilder, 19, will be the youngest person ever to be featured on “Forged in Fire” when he appears on the History Channel show tonight.

The show airs at 9 p.m.

Chase lives in Kalamazoo. His grandmother, Kathy Levesque, is a Spring Lake resident. Chase’s mother, Shawna (Maciejewski) Wilder, is a Spring Lake native.

“I grew up in the woods, hunting and stuff, using knives, and I always enjoyed building things, so I said, ‘I’m going to build a knife,’” Chase said. “It took off from there.”

Wilder isn’t allowed to divulge what happened on the show. He said he’ll take in tonight’s episode at a watch party with family and friends.

“It was a lot of fun,” he said. “They reached out to me with an email and said, ‘We’d like to consider you for the show.’ A couple weeks later, we did a Skype interview, then they said, ‘We want you to be on the show. Can you fly out to New York on these days?’ It was really exciting.”

Chase sells his knifes online at www.wilderforge.com.
