The premiere performance is at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, in the DeWitt Center studio theater, 141 E. 12th St. in Holland.
The playful story takes place in a mythic Middle Ages. Hobart the dragon and his dragon buddies are bored with their dragon shenanigans. So what do they do? Why, fly to the beach, of course! The islands are a paradise at first, but now the dragons are hungry. When the dragons leave the tropics and discover Burger Hut, it’s a full-fledged, ferociously fearsome fast-food festival.
HSRT is partnering for the performances with one of Holland’s “burger huts,” Goog’s Pub & Grub.
The book that inspired the project was written in 1993, and was originally adapted for the stage by Erik Durham during his senior year at Hope College in 2013. Premiering in conjunction with the book’s silver-anniversary year, the production features the same story along with new characters and new music.
