A section of Lincoln Street, from U.S. 31 to 144th Avenue, will be closed to through traffic until early June.

Local access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout the project, according to Grand Haven Township’s Public Services Director Mark VerBerkmoes.

The closure is planned to allow Dykstra Excavating, Inc. of Grand Rapids to complete an extension of sanitary sewer and construction of turn lanes for the new Stonewater Development along Lincoln Street near Mariposa Avenue.

Construction was scheduled to begin Monday, April 16, and end by June 3. Work will generally be conducted between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday with possible work on Saturdays, VerBerkmoes said.

Individual driveway access may be interrupted for a few hours during utility installation but in all cases, will be restored by the end of the work day.

“Road Closed” signs and detour routing signs have been posted and will remain in place throughout the duration of the project. The detour routes are as follows:

Eastbound Lincoln Street from U.S. 31

From U.S. 31, turn east onto Lake Michigan Drive toward 144th Avenue, then turn north onto 144th Avenue to Lincoln Street.

Westbound Lincoln Street from east of 144th Avenue

From Lincoln Street, turn south onto 144th Avenue toward Lake Michigan Drive, then turn west onto Lake Michigan Drive toward U.S. 31, then turn north onto U.S. 31 to Lincoln Street.

For more information, or if residents along the route have questions, contact VerBerkmoes at 842-5988, or Rick Pulaski of Nederveld, Inc., at 616-575-5190.
