Wind advisory in effect

A wind advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday for the West Michigan lakeshore.

The advisory area includes Ottawa, Muskegon, Mason, Oceana, Allegan and Van Buren counties.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids said west winds will gust 45-55 mph at times into early Tuesday evening. For the most part, wind gusts over 50 mph will be near the Lake Michigan shore.

Wind gusts will diminish early Tuesday night, but it will remain windy through Wednesday night.


— Isolated power outages possible.

— Those driving high-profile vehicles will have difficulty on north/south roads on Tuesday.

Grand Haven forecast:

The rest of Tuesday afternoon: A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a steady temperature around 33. Windy, with a west wind around 31 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph.

Tonight: A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Windy, with a west wind 26-31 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph.

Wednesday: Snow showers likely, mainly after 4 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Breezy, with a west wind 22-25 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.
