HAVEN GRAPPLERS FALL TO HUDSONVILLE
The Grand Haven wrestling team traveled to Hudsonville on Wednesday for an O-K Red Conference dual match.
The Buccaneers couldn't overcome a deep Eagles' squad, as the Hudsonville found enough points through the lineup to score a 41-30 win.
Aidan Pike (103 lbs.) scored a pinfall win in 29 seconds to get the Buccaneers going early, and teammate Riley Rhone (112 lbs.) added to his hot streak with a pinfall win in 1:15 to give Grand Haven an early 12-0 lead.
Hefzur Rahman (119 lbs.) added a third-straight pinfall win in 1:26 to extend the lead to 18-0, before Hudsonville scored a major decision win at 125 lbs.
Cody Miller (130 lbs.) went up a weight class and took down his competition with a pinfall win in just 59 seconds, as the Buccaneer lead grew to 24-4. Zach Boersen would record a 5-3 decision at 135 lbs. to balloon the lead to 27-4.
The Eagles would get back on track, however, and win the next four matches to cut the lead to 27-23 with five matches to go.
Grand Haven's Kaleb Butcher would score a 12-8 decision at 171 lbs., but that would be the victory the Bucs would score on the night, as Hudsonville finished the match with three straight pinfall wins to escape with a 41-30 win.
