Frontporch Salute

The Ruiter home on the corner of Washington and Fifth in Grand Haven took a different approach to decorating for this year’s mostly canceled Coast Guard Festival.

The Coast Guard Festival’s Front Porch Salute challenged Grand Haven-area residents to decorate their homes to show continued support for the U.S. Coast Guard while the full festival was canceled.

Around town, front yards and porches are covered in red, white and blue – but this call to decorative arms has always been the norm for some.
