The Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven-Spring Lake-Ferrysburg recently announced that two of its community events, the Grand Haven Art Festival and Coast Guard Craft Fair, have been recognized as a part of Sunshine Artist magazine’s 200 Best Shows in America ranking.

The 2018 Grand Haven Art Festival ranked No. 27 out of 100 national shows in the Fine Art and Design category, and the 2018 Coast Guard Craft Fair ranked No. 41 out of 100 national shows in the Classic and Contemporary Craft category.

“It is a huge accomplishment to garner this national recognition,” said Mary Sherman, director of community events and programs for The Chamber. “We pride ourselves in making the Grand Haven Art Festival and the Coast Guard Craft Fair pleasant and rewarding experiences for every artist and crafter, and hope to continue providing and exceeding this level of satisfaction.”

Sunshine Artist is the fine art and craft industry’s leading publication for promoters, exhibitors and clients, Sherman said. The shows are ranked based on the feedback of the attending artists, who are asked which 10 shows from the previous year were the most profitable for them and then by identifying themselves as fine artists or craftspeople. Sunshine Artist’s 200 Best focuses solely on revenue, because that is viewed as the most objective indicator of a show’s future success, according to Sherman.

The entire list of the 200 Best will be published in Sunshine Artist’s September issue.

The Grand Haven Art Festival and Coast Guard Craft Fair are juried shows. For more information, visit www.grandhavenchamber.org.
