FERRYSBURG — The 13th annual Smith’s Bayou Chili Cookoff is set for Saturday, Aug. 24, and it will be a benefit for Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging.
The chili sampling starts at 1 p.m. on a block-long stretch of Cecilia Lane, off 168th Avenue near Smith’s Bridge in Ferrysburg. Judging begins at 1:30 p.m. and awards will be presented at 4 p.m.
The public is invited to sample the contest entries. Tickets are 50 cents each or three for $1. Categories include Hot & Spicy, Meek & Mild and White Chili.
Cooks/contestants are still being sought and may enter by the Aug. 18 deadline. The entry fee is $15.
Winners will be selected in each category. There will also be People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice winners.
