A Holland author and her fellow explorers from the Michigan Shipwreck Research Association (MSRA) will be featured next week on the Discovery Channel’s popular television show “Expedition Unknown,” starring archaeologist Josh Gates.

In the episode, Gates comes to South Haven to meet up with Holland author Valerie van Heest of MSRA, who wrote the book “Fatal Crossing” about the team’s efforts to locate the remains of a Northwest Airlines DC-4 airliner that crashed in Lake Michigan on June 24, 1950. At the time, it was the worst aviation disaster in U.S. History.
