“Now that the actual force main is complete and on the Spring Lake side of the river, the force main has to be connected to the pumping station,” Spring Lake Public Works Director Wally Delemater said.
The force main replaces the antiquated sewer pipe under the Grand River. The $5.4 million endeavor is a joint project between the Tri-Cities municipalities, pro-rated by usage.
Next month, Exchange Street will be closed for resurfacing, from Jackson to Elm streets. Improvements are also scheduled for the sanitary storm sewer lines in the area. That project is expected to last about eight weeks.
Motorists will be routed to Savidge Street as the detour.
Vehicle access for residents and emergencies will be maintained, except when paving or crossing driveways with new pipe, according to Delamater.
