Pastor Marshall Mitchell of Salem Baptist Church in Abington, Pennsylvania, got his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in December 2020. He says it’s his spiritual duty to his congregation and community to take precautions to avoid the coronavirus.

Jeff Weddle, a 46-year-old, wise-cracking, self-deprecating, Bible-loving, self-described “failing pastor” from Wisconsin, was already thinking of leaving the ministry before COVID-19 and the 2020 election.

He was, as he put it, fed up with church life after two decades as a pastor.
