SPRING LAKE — Taya Cook played with her toy kitchen and offered plastic eggs to nearby adults.

As the 11-year-old played, her mother, Kristen Cook, recalled her daughter’s life and the progress she’s had since being part of the SXI program housed within Spring Lake Public Schools. Given her daughter’s experience, Cook said she’s happy Taya will get to continue with her classmates next year at the intermediate school.
