Flahive Billboard

Grand Haven Department of Public Safety Officer David Karel, GHDPS Chief Jeff Hawke and Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Derek Gerencer stand in front of the billboard that honors the late Grand Haven police officer Scott Flahive. The billboard is located on the northwest corner of M-104 and 144th Avenue in Spring Lake Township.

SPRING LAKE TWP. — A new billboard greeting motorists entering the Tri-Cities area went up Friday to honor a man who gave his life for the city of Grand Haven more than 27 years ago.

A group of retired law enforcement personnel known as Brothers in Blue Grand Rapids is behind the effort to honor police officers from around West Michigan who died in the line of duty.
