An ice fisherman sits between two pop-up shanties on Lloyd’s Bayou in Spring Lake Township on Monday afternoon.

SPRING LAKE TWP. — Several anglers fell through the ice on Lloyd’s Bayou over the past weekend, prompting officials to urge people to take caution when heading out on the ice.

“This last weekend, we did have some second-hand reports of people going through the ice on Saturday,” Spring Lake Township Fire Chief John Stalzer said. “And Sunday, we did respond to a person going through the ice on Lloyd’s (Bayou). In both cases, they were able to self-extricate, get themselves off the ice, but the second person did need to be treated and transported (to a hospital) due to hypothermia.”
