The first block of Washington Avenue will be closed to traffic again this year, and that has some area businesses upset.

On Tuesday, the Grand Haven City Council approved the closure, despite hearing from some retail owners that they oppose the decision.

The mainstay business' should be supported over one event. The art fairs have been long-standing and understood, however to close off Washington Street is unfair to the established businesses that do not sell alcohol and food.
