Proposed Sims Site Redevelopment

This illustration shows an overview of the proposed redevelopment of the Board of Light & Power’s Sims site on Harbor Island. The utility’s Board of Directors approved moving the $46.6 million plan forward with a 3-2 vote Thursday.

A split decision by the Board of Light & Power directors moves forward a master plan to redevelop the former Sims site, a decision that was expected but feared by some in the community.

The decision was made during the municipal utility board’s meeting Thursday, which was broadcast online for the public. It was a 3-2 vote, with directors John Naser and Larry Kieft dissenting.
