Did you know that October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month? In my column this month, I’d like to share some myths and some facts about people with Down syndrome. I know some of these facts because I was born with Down syndrome.

It is a myth that people with Down syndrome are always happy. The fact is that we are happy sometimes. We can also feel sad, angry or calm, nervous and excited, and even frustrated and proud. We have the same feelings as everyone else. We like to socialize and enjoy our friends. We love our families just like everyone else.
