In life there are certain markers. I was once picketed in front of City Hall because I approved of a deer cull. I now had a disclaimer added to my last column.

In my column I was asking questions because no one still really knows. The disclaimer read that “there is no proof of widespread election fraud.” Words mean things and that claim can be made because no court allowed the evidence to see the light of day as some cases were dismissed on technicalities and others were put off until after Jan. 20 when the new administration was safely in place.

Well written article

Yea, Buddy

The big lie was "you can keep your doctor and your premiums won't go up".

Lanivan

If you couldn't keep your doctor and your premiums went up, it was due to your insurance companies' plans, policies, and actuaries, and/or your doctor. Take your beef to them.

Rottweiler

That is the most twisted logic yet.

Yea, Buddy

Clueless!

Lanivan

It remains a mystery how anyone can logically assimilate the fact that 65 separate courts and judges, including the Supreme Court, many of them Republicans and/or appointed by Trump, dismissed Trump lawsuits regarding election fraud as showing no evidence of election fraud to support the lawsuit, yet still claim Trump's claims are valid.

It will always remain inconceivable that there are actually people who still support a man who has shown himself to be consistently cruel, selfish, devoid of honor or integrity, and who regularly employs gaslighting, lies, bullying, and violent rhetoric and behavior.

A permanent stain will always mark our country that even when the president cultivates the Big Lie for months pre- and post-election that the election will be/was rigged against him, that the presidency will be/was stolen from him, and incites through incendiary rallies a mob of insurrectionist supporters to storm and ransack the Capitol, threaten to assassinate Congressional leaders including his own VP, who beat and killed Capitol Police (impaling, gouging out the eye, crushing with 140+ injuries including brain, spinal, and broken bones), there are still those who support this man and his allies, who refuse to acknowledge the truth, who apparently are entirely OK with leadership with no ethical constraints who opposes democracy.

What a disgrace.

Rottweiler

You are the disgrace with your opinion based lies

Lanivan

You are welcome to your opinion, but every statement in my comment is supported by facts, videos, tweets, investigative conclusions, and community columnists.

Acquitted...maybe you missed that

Lanivan

It's true that the 57-43 vote was not enough to convict Trump under the Constitution, but he lost plenty despite his seditionist attacks on the election. 15% of Senate Republicans split from the party and stood up for the Constitution and rule of law by joining every Democrat and Independent to vote for conviction - a huge crack in the right-wing wall.

Many Republicans who voted to acquit went on record to condemn Trump as an outlaw and seditionist. Some of them were directly complicit in the planning of the coup and in promoting the Big Lie, their sedition exposed by texts, videos, photos, and tweets, knowing full well the election was not stolen from Trump, it was not rigged, and there was not a shred of evidence to prove it was.

Trump lost in other ways as well. Polls report that the impeachment trial was very popular with American - 56% wanted him convicted; 59% believe he was responsible for inviting violence; and 66% felt he acted irresponsibly during the post-election period.

It was a victory for the Democrats, who in a most detailed and substantiated manner exposed how the GOP approved and supported mob violence and authoritarianism to maintain power, and the treasonous conspiracy to overthrow the government, to replace peace, democracy, and the Constitution with violence, greed, and division.

Rottweiler

Tell us about the Mueller report why your at it...you are an expert on policy and Constitutinal Law...have at it.

Rottweiler

This is laughable speculation at best and pure lies at worst

You still seem tired. Maybe you simply need a nap and you will be able to view things clearly.

tops of the waves

There's a reason Geri McCaleb came in third; in a primary no less. Sadly, she still doesn't get it.

Rottweiler

McCaleb was Mayor for 4 terms and her defeat in the primary by the top vote getter was 207 votes.

Rottweiler

And soon all the hater bullies will arrive

Yea, Buddy

Another good column, Geri !
