I heard a news report the other day that went something like this: “Backed-up ports and the corresponding lack of goods going through the supply chain could become a real-life ‘Grinch,’ making for a disappointing Christmas holiday for millions.”

By now we all have probably seen the images of all the freighters waiting to be unloaded in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, California. It has been reported that more than 70 ships along the West Coast have been waiting for three months in a 40-mile line to dock and unload. And the result has been empty shelves in our supermarkets and big box stores.
