Safeguard our freedom to vote

Very well stated, Ms. Obits. To expand: This Michigan Republican desperate act of working around the will of the people regarding voting rights is abhorrent for a few different reasons.

This attempt to limit voting rights is based on false fraud claims - and knowing full well the claims are lies, imo - which then exploits those false fraud claims (of the 2020 "stolen election") to generate mistrust in the results of future elections..........BUT - only if Republicans LOSE, of course, not if they WIN. They don't seem to realize this scheme of erosion of trust can result in a suppression of voter turnout by their own base! Why vote if the election is "rigged" from the start?

These Michigan Republicans are attempting to corrode American democracy without any credible evidence and in doing so are forcing the Republican party to become mired in stolen election claims and conspiracy theories, untethered from reality.

It undermines the democratic process this nation has had for some 245 years of voting. The 2020 election in Michigan has been reviewed in depth and no evidence of measurable or credible voter fraud was found.

They don't seem to realize that reasonable people ask themselves 2 basic questions:

1. Why do Republicans lose elections? (My 2 cents? Their authoritarian policies of tax cuts for the wealthiest and corporate deregulation are deeply unpopular and saddle the country with exploding federal debt and wealth inequality).

2. Why are they promoting the absurd notion that only if Republicans lose, the election is "stolen"? How stupid do they think Michigan citizens are?

Ah – the Jen Pis-Hockey of the Tri-Cities has weighed in, supporting the Marxist narrative knowing it’s a lie.

Recent Polls (Monmouth, Rasmussen) show a huge majority of Americans, and even a majority of Blacks support requiring I.D. to vote (like most civilized countries world-wide). But White Plantation Mistress Lani-tan knows better than her poor benighted inferiors – who cares what they want? – and lies that requiring I.D. is “working around the will of the people.”

Next, she thinks that we are as stupid as her other inferiors, claiming that only Republicans claim elections are stolen, and only when they lose, to generate mistrust in future election results.

When Al Gore (Democrat) brought his claim that his loss was due to a stolen election, did he generate mistrust in future elections?

Apparently, because in the next election John Kerry (Democrat) claimed his election was stolen through rigged voting machines in Ohio.

Then again in the next election Primary, Hillary Clinton (Democrat) claimed Barack Hussein Obama (Democrat) had rigged the primary by flooding the polls with ineligible voters.

Then, following the generation of mistrust in future elections, Hillary Clinton (Democrat) claimed her election was stolen by Donald Trump and the Russians (a conspiracy theory she started with the assistance of her now indicted lawyer and the corporate media).

Of course, we can’t forget Stacy Abrams who, to this day claims she is the rightful Governor of Georgia.

Maybe when Jen’s red head explodes at the podium as her nose reaches its maximum length you can suit up and take her place – you’re eminently qualified. Just get a nose extender.

Although I'm tickled pink you would put me anywhere within range of the cool, calm, collected, brainy, clever, accomplished, highly successful and beautiful Jen Psaki, I'm afraid you are still suffering from PTSD after 4 years of Trump's press secretary turnovers - 4 in just 4 years, compared to 3 during 8 years of the Obama presidency. But then Trump had the highest rate of A-list turnovers of administrations going back to 1980 - 92%. What a mess. This whirlwind procession of duplicitous press secretary caricatures during the Trump presidency is bound to confuse, confound and rattle!

Your diatribe of Republican/Democrat equivalency in election stealing claims is full of holes. No other presidential candidate who lost an election conspired to overthrow the government through the incitement of an armed and deadly insurrection on the Capitol; no other presidential candidate had a blueprint drawn up prior to the election that explained how the election process could be perverted, illegally and unconstitutionally. And no other losing presidential candidate continued holding political rallies around the country spewing misinformation and lies about the election with no evidence to support them.

Of course Americans support voter ID laws, which have been in effect since 1950. They oppose the strict and discriminatory voter photo ID laws that Republicans are pushing that are based on fabricated, essentially non-existent voter fraud in an effort to create barriers to voter participation, a Constitutional right under our Constitutional Republic. Republicans are hoping this will make it harder for POC citizens to vote, as well as the elderly and the poor. OOPS! A large % of Republican voters are elderly and/or poor.

The vast majority of Americans polled not only support the decades of common sense voter ID laws, they also support early voting. Somehow, in all your high-falutin' soliloquy, you forgot that little factoid, and disqualified yourself.

Oh yes, the "Insurrection" by citizens who had not even one firearm, when your mentally defective President admitted "“If you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons."

Do you not know what your President says, or do you over-ride it to pursue your own narrative that he doesn't get?

In replay to Vlad: Tell that little tale to the police officers involved in hours of hand-to-hand combat....."One officer lost the tip of his right index finger. Others were smashed in the head with baseball bats, flag poles and pipes. Another lost consciousness after rioters used a metal barrier to push her into stairs as they tried to reach the Capitol steps during the assault on Jan. 6.

The Capitol assault resulted in one of the worst days of injuries for law enforcement in the United States since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. About 140 officers — 73 from the Capitol Police and 65 from the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington — were injured, the departments have said. They ranged from bruises and lacerations to more serious damage such as concussions, rib fractures, burns and even a mild heart attack.

The number of those injured does not account for the dozens, if not hundreds, of officers who law enforcement officials estimate will suffer in years to come with post-traumatic stress disorder and the dozens who most likely contracted the coronavirus from unmasked Trump supporters who overran the Capitol, the experts and officials said." Van Putten’s letter to the editor follows the tactics we’ve seen over the past few months from the anti-peaker plant crowd namely half truths, misinformation and worse. Despite his baseless claim the fact is BLP is not wasting any money by following through on the air permit process. The cost for this process was paid up-front when it began, the real waste would be to stop now without a final decision. I suspect the unfairly maligned BLP manager is right when he says some people are just afraid of the results of the pending air quality report.

SAFEGUARD FAIR ELECTIONS

#1. If someone cites Pro Publica as a source, you can be certain they are a committed, radical Leftist (Democrat).

#2. If someone uses the term “election denier” you can rest assured they are a committed, radical Activist for Marxism (Democrat).

#3. If someone is so frightened by open, transparent, fair elections that they have to misrepresent a common-sense effort to secure such elections, you can know that they are comfortable with voter fraud.

#4. The petition promoted by Secure MI Vote calls for 3 simple, rational amendments to existing law:

1) Require individuals to provide photo identification before casting a ballot;

2) Require Michigan to provide free photo identification to anyone who wants to vote but lacks photo-ID;

3) Prohibits special interest groups from funding or directing the conduct of Michigan elections.

#5. If you disagree with those simple steps to secure election integrity, you join Karen Obits, Bill Gates and the social media billionaires, ANTIFA, the Squad and Stacy Abrams as a supporter of voter fraud and manipulating elections.

Yea, Buddy

One day to vote, a citizen of USA & picture ID. This is logical.

More alarmist lies from Karen.

maryal74

Right on Karen. Keep up the good work

T-Bird

Karen needs to keep up with the lying, Mary? Is that the "good work"?
