M-231 to be closed Saturday for annual run

ROBINSON TWP. — M-231 will be closed between 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday for the annual M23.1K run.

Three-hundred runners are expected for the event.

The run actually begins at Connor Bayou Park, located at 12956 N. Cedar Drive in Robinson Township. Runners will begin and end at Connor Bayou. The race route heads east along North Cedar Drive before joining up with M-231.

There are two run options: The 23.1K (14.3-mile) run begins at 8:30 a.m. New this year is an abbreviated 4-mile run starting at 9:30 a.m.

This marks the third year of the run, which began in celebration of the state highway being opened in late October 2015.

The course record is held by Zachariah Vruwink, who finished in 1 hour, 24 minutes and 36 seconds. Alana Garcia holds the female course record at 1:38.29.

Spectators are welcome along the race course. Parking is limited — there are approximately 100 spots at Connor Bayou. Those participating are encouraged to car pool.
