Ice fishing has been quite a hot commodity since the new year began, flocking fisherman and filling buckets with a variety of panfish and the occasional northern pike.

December and January (so far) have been warmer than usual, making safe ice scarce across West Michigan. But bayous, particularly Eastmanville and Lloyd’s, have been mightily successful in recent weeks despite the warmup.
