Spring Lake softball earned its third straight trip to the Division 2 quarterfinals Saturday by claiming the regional title with two emphatic victories.

On a hot, sticky day with wind gusts blowing dirt on players and fans alike, the Lakers caught fire with two mercy wins. They first defeated Portland 11-0 in five innings, only to usurp that margin of victory with a 15-0 romping over host South Christian in three innings.
