Proceeds from the cookoff will be donated to Gracious Grounds, which is raising funds to build a facility in Ferrysburg.
The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 25, from 12-3 p.m. It is open to the public.
“I was going to start loading my car to go to work (and) the garage was filled with smoke,” said Mary Kuehle. “It was billowing up under my car, so I ran in the house and called 911. It scared me.”

FERRYSBURG — Fair skies, warm temperatures and a pleasant breeze greeted a few hundred people who enjoyed the community aspect of the Coast Guard Festival at the annual Community Picnic held Sunday afternoon at Coast Guard Park.

The store was evacuated and closed for business when the fire started shortly after 9 p.m. The store normally closes at 10 p.m.
Deputies of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office shared ice cream with local children at the “Cops and Cones” event on June 9 at Miss Lisa’s in Ferrysburg.
The event is an informal time where residents of all ages can meet their local law enforcement teams, ask questions and introduce concerns.
