Spring Lake High School teacher David Theune has received a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching grant from the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
As the notes of “Pomp and Circumstance” played over the loudspeakers at Jeffers Elementary School on Friday afternoon, Spring Lake High School seniors walked the halls of their former school.
Giant mushrooms and brightly colored decorattions greeted Grand Haven High School students attending the Mad Hatters Ball, while the Lakers from Spring Lake High School attended their waterfront event, Anchors Away.

Performances are at 7 p.m. April 26-27 and 1 p.m. April 28 in the high school’s auditorium.
An evening of family fun will help local students and their planned project this summer.

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, SLHS students turned their attention on King’s message: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
SPRING LAKE TWP. — A Spring Lake High School club is inviting the community to join them to discover ways for girls to overcome challenges.
The trip is slated to cost almost $25,000 for 41 students, or about $600 per student.
Following last week’s production of “Alice in Wonderland,” nine SLHS drama club members are taking on serious roles for the production of “The Women of Lockerbie.”
The show will be staged at Spring Lake High School at 7 p.m. today and Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday.
About 94 percent of the school’s Class of 2018 completed applications or conveyed they have a plan for after high school graduation.
Earlier this summer, 42 Spring Lake High School students and six chaperones spent 12 days and 11 nights visiting Dublin, London, Paris and Normandy.
